Stretching exercises will help you feel more energetic, more alive and more aware.
The exercises taught in this eight week course will help prepare and strengthen your body for everyday
physical activities, whether you'll be sitting in front of a computer, climbing stairs or shoveling snow.
The exercises help release daily tensions and will help counter the effects of poor posture and will expand
your range of movement over time through regular practice.
This course makes the techniques accessible to all - young or old - because you'll learn how to adapt the
exercises to your own physical condition. While you are never pushed or encouraged to go beyond your
limits, neither are you pampered.
This workbook is part of an integrated learning system consisting of:
* The video and television programs which show the movements
* This workbook which lays out each session in pictures and in words
* Flash Cards, included in this book, which help lay out your daily practice
About the Authors
Lisa Schwartz is an advanced yoga practitioner who has studied and taught for over twenty-five years, many
of them in association with two of the world's greatest contemporary figures in Yoga: B.KS. Iyengar in
India and Vanda Scaravelli in Europe.
Like many, Lisa began her study with books and was inspired to take up serious practice after reading
Iyengar's modern classic "Light on Yoga" in the early 1970's, which eventually drew her to study with
him in person. More recently, Lisa has worked with Vanda Scarvelli, well known in Europe as a teacher
and author of "Awakening the Spine". Lisa has adapted the teachings of Iyengar and Scaravelli to suit
the needs of North American students.
Keith Dalton is an award winning writer and television director. This book is his second as co-author on
issues related to well being. He has been a student of Yoga in the past, but it was while working with
Lisa Schwartz on the television series "Stretch Alive" that he was introduced to the specifics of practice
in detail. He also brings a broad range of skills, related interests and an understanding developed
through years of applying various approaches to bodywork both professionally and personally.
